Garth Baker is a singer-songwriter guitarist from Stoney Creek, Ontario. His most recent cd, “That Could Be Everything”, was nominated for Adult Contemporary Recording of the Year at the 10th Annual Hamilton Music Awards. Amy King, at Grant Avenue Studio, was also nominated for Producer of the Year for the same album. Two tracks from the cd were also honoured with awards in the 17th Annual Great American Songwriting Contest; “The Elephant in the Room” was a winner in rock/alternative, while “One Last Stupid Love Song”, which has received airplay on CBC radio, was a finalist in the singer-songwriter category.
In the past, Garth has performed with several bands and written or co-written songs that have received airplay and been finalists in contests by major market Toronto radio stations Q107 and CFNY. He has also had songs released in Canada by the band Justus, on the Basement/Attic label, and internationally by Jeff Austin on Frontiers Records. He has shared a nomination for a CASBY Award and also been a finalist in the CMT/Nashville Songwriters International Song Contest. Over the years, Garth has had the honour of working with numerous talented artists; including Amy King, Natasha Kinne, Omar Ales, Dan McVeigh, Bernie Frazer and Melissa Virdo, to name but a few.
His newest CD project , "At the Edge of You", is currently in production at Grant Avenue Studio and the title track from the album was recently announced as a winner in the 18th Annual Great American Songwriting Contest.
Garth is a member of The Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada.
